A thought is the inner dialogue that goes on in your mind. It is what you are currently thinking. I believe thoughts are endless. They depend on what you are looking at, what you are reading, your memories, things that are going to occur in the future, or things that have already occurred. They can be things you wish would happen, such as a daydream, and the list goes on incessantly.
An idea, however, is different. My perception on ideas changed after I saw the movie Inception. The idea behind this movie is that you can plant an idea in someone’s mind by going very deep into his or her subconscious. Once the idea is in, it takes over the person completely and they somewhat obsess over it. I believe this has some truth to it. An idea is something that starts off small and grows bigger. You elaborate on your idea over time the more that you think about it. When I get an idea in my mind, all I want to do is make that idea come to life.
I think thoughts and ideas come from the inner workings of the brain. They can be spawn off of anything. Once whatever it is that catches your eye gets your attention, it creates an idea in your mind. It may start off vague, but the more you think about it, the clearer and more intense it becomes in your mind. Subsequently, it starts to affect your daily life. The idea leaves the inner workings of your mind and then enters real life by you making it happen.
For example, say you are bored of your current hairstyle. There is nothing wrong with it necessarily, but you just want some change. This does not change anything immediately in your life because the idea is new and vague. The more you think about it, you decide that if you were to change it, you would probably go to your favorite local salon. The more you think about the salon, the more you think about how your favorite stylist has dyed your hair beautifully in the past. When you think about your past beautiful hair dyes, you think about the color you want to change your hair too. You decide on jet black and once this idea is set, you make it happen. The idea then comes into play in real life when you call the salon, make an appointment and get your hair dyed.
Thoughts, ideas, and where they originate can be interpreted differently from different peoples perspectives, but contrasting opinions start to create thoughts and ideas in people’s heads, and the endless circle continues on.
